What is Chinese herbal medicine?
Chinese herbal medicine is part of an integrated system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that can be traced back at least five thousand years, making it one of the oldest and most long-standing health care systems in the history.
Chinese Herbal Medicine is based on the concepts of Yin and Yang and clinical strategies are based upon diagnosis of patterns of signs and symptoms that reflect an imbalance of these two. Each herb has its own properties which include its energy (Temperature), its taste, its movement and its related meridians (channels).
Depending on your signs and symptoms of the illness you present, we are able to prescribe a Chinese herbal formula that specifically matches your health problem.
In addition to providing effective treatment for a wide range of health disorders, Chinese herbal medicine may also assist with general health maintenance and disease prevention by strengthening and enhancing normal body functions, boosting the immune system and promote general sense of well-being.

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is part of an integrated system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has a history of development dating back thousands of years in China and other parts of East Asia.
Your body is a dynamic environment of interrelating and interconnecting networks. Some of these networks are obvious and others are more subtle. Over the centuries, Traditional Chinese Medicine has mapped out the subtle networks and discovered Acupuncture points.
Since our body is interrelated as a whole through the subtle network (Meridian), Acupuncture takes a wholistic approach to understand normal function and disease processes and focuses as much on the prevention of illness as on the treatment.
When we are healthy, an abundant supply of Qi or “life energy” flows through the body’s meridians. If the flow of qi in the meridians becomes blocked or there is an inadequate supply of qi, then the body fails to maintain harmony and balance and disease or illness follows. This can result from stress, overwork, poor diet, external pathogens, weather and environmental conditions, and other lifestyle factors.
Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine, pre-sterilized and disposable needles into specific sites (acupuncture points) along the body’s meridians to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of qi through the individual.
What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage is a holistic treatment and involves the use of massage and a wide range ofdiagnostic techniques to treat a condition. The massage therapist endeavours to identify the originalbiomechanical dysfunction, thus healing the cause of the disorder, as well as the symptoms. It usesseveral specialised techniques to locate and repair damage and to support and speed up the body’s ownrepair mechanisms. The massage is applied directly to the skin using a lubricating medium, usually oil, which ensures that the muscles associated with the disorder and mobilisation of the joint are deeplypenetrated. Passive stretching moves are also used.
Remedial massage can be helpful in treating specific areas of muscle tension caused by stress orinjury. The therapy also helps to get the blood flowing to injured tissues to speed up the repair process. Remedial massage can also be used for relaxation and general wellbeing. The therapy has both shortand long-term effects on the body. The benefits of remedial massage include: the stimulation to the blood supply allowing toxins in themuscles to be removed; the calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort; and the toning and relaxing of muscles to improve joint mobility. An improvement to the health of thecells, the repairing of tissues, and the easing of stiffness and tension can also be experienced throughtherapeutic relaxation.
Muscular and skeletal dysfunctions often addressed remedial massage include fibrositis, pondylitis, arthritis, frozen shoulder, muscular cramps, whiplash, muscular atrophy, sports and dancing injuries. Sessions usually take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the whether the practitioner will justaddress a specific area or give a whole body massage. As oil is used, it is necessary for the patient to be unclothed for the treatment.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athleticevents. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Although sports massage was designed for athletes but is useful for anyone with chronic pain, injury orrange-of-motion issues.
Sports massage is a type of Swedish massage that stimulates circulation of blood and lymph fluids. Some sports massage movements use trigger point therapy to break down adhesions (knots in themuscles) and increase range of motion.
